Things We Love - August

July Favourites - This is our round up of things we’ve been loving this last month.

The Nue Co - Forest Lungs - Finding a purfume that lifts you without being overpowering is incredibly hard to find. We love The Nue Co’s Functional Fragrences and Forest Lungs in particular. The Nue Co says, “this combination of aromas offers the lasting, positive effect of a walk in the forest. This patented technology has been proven to calm the body and mind: 96% felt less stressed within thirty minutes of using Forest Lungs.” We found it provides a great sense of calm and focus for in times of stress or just for daily use.

Rose Inc Make Up - The clean make up revolution is growing and things are getting more and more exciting. Rose Inc is supermodel Rosie Huntington Whitely’s beauty brand. Like many, we are often scepitcle about celebrity brands but this one has really knocked it out of the park. It’s a clean beauty brand powered by science which is exactly what we want. The Softlight Luminous Hyrdrating Concealer has outperformed any other we have tried!

Ivy the Brand T - Shirts - The quest for the best basic t - shirt is over! We found it. These Ivy The Brand Breton Striped T’s and basic t-shirts were recommended by a stylist friend and they were not wrong. Ethically sourced, organic cottion and made to last. The perfect addition to anyones wardrobe and the type of thing you'll want to  reach for every single day.

Boy Smells Candles - We are eternally on the hunt for our favourite scented candles and we have a very strong contender. Boy Smells are new to the UK from New York and are available in Space NK. They are much more reasonably priced than their other candle ranges. These candles are a natural blend of coconut and beeswax with some of the most unusal and complex scents we've tried. Our personal favourite is the Hinoki Fantome. We almost didn’t want to include this one as it really is our best kept secret!

Apple Headphones - The Apple over-ear headphones have had some bad press but we are here to contest this. These are incredible, it's an amazing way to experience sound. The noise cancellation really blocks outside noise, so you can immerse yourself in music whilst transparency mode allows outside sounds to still be heard even. You will not regret this purchase.

Watermelon Cooler Recipe

by Clare Ward, , link

There's something about watermelon which just screams summer to us.  The bright colour, the juice of it running down your face when you bite into a slice.  It's a definite favourite for us.

Not only is watermelon delicious but it contains vitamin C, betacarotene, and is a great source of lycopene.

We love to make a Watermelon Cooler.  This refreshing drink never disappoints.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 watermelon diced
  • juice of half a lime
  • 2 stems of mint leaves
  • ice
  • water/sparkling water - optional, to taste

Place the watermelon, lime juice and mint in a blender with some ice and blend it until it's smooth.  Check the flavour and consistency.  If it's too thick add some water or sparkling water and blend again.  If it's slightly too sweet then you could add some additional lime juice and blend again.  Once you've reached your desired consistency pour into a glass and enjoy!
