Things We Love - August

July Favourites - This is our round up of things we’ve been loving this last month.

The Nue Co - Forest Lungs - Finding a purfume that lifts you without being overpowering is incredibly hard to find. We love The Nue Co’s Functional Fragrences and Forest Lungs in particular. The Nue Co says, “this combination of aromas offers the lasting, positive effect of a walk in the forest. This patented technology has been proven to calm the body and mind: 96% felt less stressed within thirty minutes of using Forest Lungs.” We found it provides a great sense of calm and focus for in times of stress or just for daily use.

Rose Inc Make Up - The clean make up revolution is growing and things are getting more and more exciting. Rose Inc is supermodel Rosie Huntington Whitely’s beauty brand. Like many, we are often scepitcle about celebrity brands but this one has really knocked it out of the park. It’s a clean beauty brand powered by science which is exactly what we want. The Softlight Luminous Hyrdrating Concealer has outperformed any other we have tried!

Ivy the Brand T - Shirts - The quest for the best basic t - shirt is over! We found it. These Ivy The Brand Breton Striped T’s and basic t-shirts were recommended by a stylist friend and they were not wrong. Ethically sourced, organic cottion and made to last. The perfect addition to anyones wardrobe and the type of thing you'll want to  reach for every single day.

Boy Smells Candles - We are eternally on the hunt for our favourite scented candles and we have a very strong contender. Boy Smells are new to the UK from New York and are available in Space NK. They are much more reasonably priced than their other candle ranges. These candles are a natural blend of coconut and beeswax with some of the most unusal and complex scents we've tried. Our personal favourite is the Hinoki Fantome. We almost didn’t want to include this one as it really is our best kept secret!

Apple Headphones - The Apple over-ear headphones have had some bad press but we are here to contest this. These are incredible, it's an amazing way to experience sound. The noise cancellation really blocks outside noise, so you can immerse yourself in music whilst transparency mode allows outside sounds to still be heard even. You will not regret this purchase.

Watermelon Cooler Recipe

by Clare Ward, , link

There's something about watermelon which just screams summer to us.  The bright colour, the juice of it running down your face when you bite into a slice.  It's a definite favourite for us.

Not only is watermelon delicious but it contains vitamin C, betacarotene, and is a great source of lycopene.

We love to make a Watermelon Cooler.  This refreshing drink never disappoints.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 watermelon diced
  • juice of half a lime
  • 2 stems of mint leaves
  • ice
  • water/sparkling water - optional, to taste

Place the watermelon, lime juice and mint in a blender with some ice and blend it until it's smooth.  Check the flavour and consistency.  If it's too thick add some water or sparkling water and blend again.  If it's slightly too sweet then you could add some additional lime juice and blend again.  Once you've reached your desired consistency pour into a glass and enjoy!

Things we are loving - Radiance's June Edit

June Favourites - This is our round up of things we’ve been loving this last month.

Seed probiotics - Seed probiotics are leading the way in the probiotics market. They are steeped in scientific research, in collaboration with leading scientists and research partners from around the world, they develop research-backed probiotics for outcomes across gastrointestinal, dermatological, oral, pediatric, and nutritional health. These have had the most profound effect on our gut health since we started taking them and highly recommend.

Matilda Goad Brass Lampshade - As if we were already obsessed with all things Matilda Goad (we've been lusting after her ceramic clam shells for around 3 years now), along came her beautiful brass lampshades! These lampshades are made from brushed brass with slight natural markings and are lacquered to prevent any further wear. They are so unique and complete any room.

Alexis Smart Flower Remedies - We were recently having a discussion here at Radiance HQ about the power of Flower Remedies. I had been skeptical in the past and failed to notice any shifts from prior attempts. Following on from that conversation I stumbled across Alexis Smart's bespoke blends. According to Alexis the key is matching you to the exact blend you require. After some very helpful communication with Alexis over instagram I settled on my chosen blend and wow! I can't recommend them highly enough. The only problem is her beautiful writing style makes you want to try all of them at once!

Copper tongue Scraper - Many people suffer from a furry tongue while cleansing and this is actually a great sign your body is detoxing effectively! We love to make use of an Ayurvedic copper tongue scraper both when we are cleansing and when we're not! It's a great little tool to add to your dental hygiene routine to assist the body in eliminating toxins that have accumulated in the mouth. Copper tongue scrapers are also known for their antibacterial properties making it easy to remove toxins & prevent bacteria from growing on the scraper itself.

Remind classes - We have spoken about the transformative power of breathwork in an article (linked here) before but we struggled to find somewhere we could consistently practice it, without costing the earth. Re/mind studio in Fitzrovia is the answer to all our prayers. Not only do they offer breathwork but also beautiful sound baths and reiki too. Not to mention their gorgeous store packed with beautiful, thoughtfully chosen gifts and trinkets!
